MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL CLUBHOUSE MANAGERS ASSOCIATION (MLBCMA)
ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF 2015 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

MLBCMA Honors the Memory of Late 9-Year-Old Batboy Kaiser Carlile

The Major League Baseball Clubhouse Managers Association (MLBCMA) Scholarship
Fund was established in 1993. The MLBCMA’s efforts have included a self‐funded program
that evolved to promote higher education for members of their support staff. Since the
founding of the MLBCMA, the organization has awarded more than $450,000 to its award
recipients. This year $10,000 has been awarded to four winners:

  • Chris Manzione, enrolled in Wake Forest University Master’s Program, New York
    Yankees.
  • John McCausland, a freshman at The Ohio State University, Cleveland Indians.
  • Kyle Tamblingson, a freshman at The University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, Milwaukee
    Brewers.
  • Alex Bristol, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Milwaukee Brewers.

Kaiser Carlile was the 9‐year‐old batboy for a Kansas baseball team who died on August
2, 2015, one day after he was accidentally struck by a bat during a game. Kaiser, the batboy
for the Liberal Bee Jays summer team in Liberal, Kansas, was struck in the head as a player
took a practice swing during their game the day before. Kaiser was wearing a helmet.
On October 4th all of our batboys will wear Kaiser’s initials “KC” on a memorial wrist
band in honor of the 9 year old. October 4th also marks the first annual Kaiser Carlile Memorial
5K Run/Walk in Liberal, Kansas.
